Job Opportunity: Loan Officer – Business Finance Department

Salary range: $45,000-$60,000

Primary responsibilities of the candidate include:

– Commercial lending by working closely with commercial banks, businesses and various local, state, and federal funding sources, including the Small Business Administration 504 program.
– Development of targeted marketing strategies through vigorous networking and cold-calling
– Managing all new loan opportunities from application, analysis, approval, and funding.
– Building new and maintaining high standards for established relationships, while helping to grow the loan portfolio.

Preferred qualifications/skills:

– Commercial lending and marketing experience.
– Strong relationship building and customer service skills.
– Ability to analyze financial data to determine loan feasibility.
– Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on Business, Financial Management or Accounting; or a combination of 2-3 years of relevant work experience and education.
– Prior experience underwriting loans and the ability to analyze business financial statements is preferred.

Bloomsburg Receives $500K Home Rehab Grant

The Town of Bloomsburg has received a $500,000 housing rehabilitation grant and interested residents should apply now to get on the waiting list for the no-cost repairs.

Qualified residents may receive up to $65,000 each for home repairs.

Interested residents may call SEDA-COG’s call Stacy Anderson at 570-524-4491 Ext. 7215.

Eligible repairs include structural, roofing, plumbing, electrical, heating/furnace, window replacement, radon and lead-based paint mitigation, and energy-related improvements.

Modifications for mobility-impaired residents are also eligible within this program. Homeowners must maintain home residency over a five-year period from the date of signing in order for this service to be received at no cost.

“SEDA-Council of Governments (SEDA-COG) manages the entire process for the homeowner,” said Teri Provost, Director of the agency’s Housing Rehabilitation program.
Provost continued, “Not only does the homeowner get necessary home repairs, but they also get the benefit of going through the process hassle-free as we manage the logistics from start to finish.”

Qualifications:
• Must live in the Town limits of Bloomsburg, not just a Bloomsburg address;
• Own the home or have Life Rights to live in it;
• Meet income qualifications based on household size;
• Be current on local taxes and municipal utility bills;
• Provide proof of homeowner’s insurance;
• Live in the home an additional five years.
Additional requirements may apply.

Annual Gross Income Limits:
Family size: 1 – $38,650; 2 – $44,200; 3 – $49,700; 4 – $55,200; 5 – $59,650; 6 – $64,050; 7 – $68,450; 8 – $72,900.

Lewisburg Borough Recognizes Flood Safety Awareness Week

In recognition of Pennsylvania’s Flood Safety Awareness Week starting on March 21st, Lewisburg Borough and SEDA-Council of Governments (SEDA-COG) are raising awareness of the dangers of flooding and the resources available to help borough residents prepare.

Lewisburg Borough Manager William Lowthert said it is crucial to know what to do before, during, and after a flood.

“Lewisburg Borough is located in 3 watersheds, making flooding our top natural disaster concern in the Borough. Our residents and property owners can improve their resiliency by preparing in advance. Understanding your individual situation and what will happen to your property is important in order to prepare for the next flood event and recover afterwards. We encourage residents to be proactive,” Lowthert said.

In high-risk areas, there is a one-in-four chance of experiencing a flood over the life of a 30-year mortgage and residents should consider purchasing flood insurance.
Safety tips to prepare for flooding include making a plan, building a go kit of supplies, knowing the types of flood risk in the borough (both river and stream flooding), signing up for emergency alerts, practicing evacuation routes and shelter plans, buying flood insurance, keeping important documents in a waterproof container, and proactively protecting property. SEDA-COG will publicize more safety tips the week of March 21st on its social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

The borough contracts with SEDA-COG to provide professional and administrative services for the Community Rating System (CRS), which gives its residents a 10% flood insurance premium discount for all properties in the Special Flood Hazard Area, and a 5% discount for all other properties. If residents’ properties are not mapped as that area, they still may qualify for a lower-cost preferred risk policy.
