Juniata County residents may receive no-cost home repairs

Residents should apply now for wait list

Homeowners in the County limits of Juniata County may be eligible to receive up to $65,000 in home improvements from the HOME Existing Owner-Occupied Housing Program.

SEDA-Council of Governments (SEDA-COG) is encouraging county residents to apply now to get on the wait list. SEDA-COG manages the program on behalf of the County.

Interested residents may call SEDA-COG’s Stacy Anderson at 800-326-9310, ext. 7215.

Eligible repairs include structural, roofing, plumbing, electrical, heating/furnace, window replacement, radon and lead-based paint mitigation, and energy-related improvements. Also included are modifications for mobility-impaired residents. There is no cost to homeowners who maintain home residency over a five-year period from the date of contract signing.

Homeowners can go through the process hassle-free with SEDA-COG managing it from start to finish, said Teri Provost, director of the agency’s Housing Rehabilitation program.

“Eligible homeowners can enjoy a rehabilitated home at no cost to them while we help them from start to finish, from obtaining a contractor, managing the project, to anything that may arise during or after the rehabilitation process,” Provost said.

“The Board of Commissioners encourages interested homeowners to contact SEDA-COG.” “This is an excellent opportunity for eligible homeowners to make significant repairs to their homes,” stated the Juniata County Commissioners.

Qualifications:

The home must be located within the County limits;
Own the home or have Life Rights to live in it;
Meet income qualifications based on household size;
Be current on local taxes and municipal utility bills;
Provide proof of homeowner’s insurance;
If located in a flood zone, provide proof of flood insurance;
Live in the home an additional five years.

2 – $43,650;
3 – $49,100;
4 – $54,550;
5 – $58,950

– Identifying the amount of energy lost in a household.
– Advising customers on home energy conservation practices.
– Ability to apply different types of insulation in confined areas such as attics/crawl spaces.
– Installing and/or sealing windows.
– Inspect equipment such as furnaces to ensure proper operation.
– Basic carpentry tasks
– Ability to perform work outdoors in all weather conditions.
– Maintaining inventory and tools.
– Ability to travel daily within our seven-county territory.
– Ability to lift 50 lbs

Required qualifications/skills

– Excellent customer service and communication skills
– Teamwork skills
– The candidate must have a valid PA’s driver’s license and a clean driving record.
– The candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, OSHA, and Department of Energy certifications within six months of hire.

Preferred qualifications/skills

– Construction, electrical, plumbing, and furnace experience preferred but not required.

SEDA-Council of Governments is a public development organization based in Lewisburg, PA, serving 11 central Pennsylvania counties. We are seeking a Fiscal Analyst to perform accounting and inventory functions.

Primary responsibilities of the candidate include:

• Handles all invoicing for state work as well as utility and the crisis program as needed.
• Review and prepare invoices for timely payment to subcontractors and vendors.
• Electronically monitors supply and equipment inventory and purchases as needed.
• Enters purchase order information into inventory database.
• Assigns materials to specific jobs from the database.
• Prepare, validate, and track all subcontractor information to remain in compliance with program directives.
• Prepare and monitor the budget and end of month procedures.

Required qualifications/skills

• Associate degree in Business Administration, accounting or similar field
• Knowledge of invoicing multiple state and utility contracts
• Knowledge of funding source regulations and guidelines
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Proficient with a multi-line phone system.

Preferred qualifications/skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, accounting or another business-related field.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in inventory control and/or accounting.
